Wow! Wasn’t Cory Patterson the Cubs leadoff hitter? I can’t believe Jason Kendall is on this list, but I can believe Neifi Perez is.
I’m glad Konerko staying
I’m glad Konerko is staying with the Sox and he’s getting more money. He was a key component in their championship, plus it puts the Sox in good shape for defense of their title. They already have the arms, they should be in good shape.
I am really curious as to where Zito is going. Even though he wasn’t as effective last year, he’s still a solid arm. I can’t wait until the winter meetings.
MVP
I can’t complain much about Pujols being chosen NL MVP this year, he had a
fantastic season as the Cardinals rolled into the post-season. But my choice
would have been Andruw Jones. When Chipper Jones came out of the lineup for 6
weeks due to injury, the Braves were 5 1/2 games out.. Due to several injuries,
the Braves were forced to call up several young players. Jones took off,
being named NL player of the month for July. By the time August rolled around ,
the Braves were 5 1/2 games in front and headed for their 14th straight
division title. The MVP is not about the best player or the best stats It is
about who is most valuable to their team. Without Jone’s superb hitting
and leadership, the Braves would not have made the playoffs Although
Pujols had better stats in most categories, Jones had a fine season also.
Here are their numbers:
| AB | R | H | 2B | 3B | HR | RBI | BB | SO | SB | CS | SLG | |
| Jones | 586 | 95 | 154 | 24 | 3 | 51 | 128 | 64 | 112 | 5 | 3 | 0.575 |
| Pujols | 591 | 129 | 195 | 38 | 2 | 41 | 117 | 97 | 65 | 16 | 2 | 0.609 |
| OBA | OPS | RC | RCAA | RC/G | TB | ISO | SEC | IBB | HBP | SF | |
| Jones | .347 | .922 | 112 | 22 | 6.56 | 337 | 0.312 | 0.43 | 13 | 15 | 7 |
| Pujols | .430 | 1.039 | 155 | 75 | 9.96 | 360 | 0.279 | 0.47 | 27 | 9 | 3 |
Finally!
Finally received my Sabermetric Encyclopedia. I’ve been waiting on it for 2 weeks, first one got lost in the mail. It’s amazing the number of queries you can run and the different stat categories.
I just read the Mets closed on Wagner. They seem to be really loading up. I thought they were real close last year. They should be much improved with Delgado. I wish the Reds would get Delgado. I haven’t heard of one deal they have made.
